Disney's Water Parks

There are currently two active water parks at the Walt Disney World®, They are called Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Both parks are open seasonally and are open subject to weather conditions. There is large parking areas at both water parks. Lockers and towels are provided for a small fee and deposit, all you have to do is go into the shop near to the lockers and ask the cashier at the till point.

Disney's Blizzard Beach

This is an excellent themed paradise that contains many great water rides and a few good spots to relax aswell. The park opened in 1995 and in early 2008 was closed to undergo a refurbishment. All of the water pools are heated to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The park is split up into three areas; Red, Green and Purple. The park is situated near Disney's Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge, buses run to Blizzard Beach from most locations throughout the park.

Did you know? Summit plummet (located in Disney?s Blizzard Beach water park) is the highest and fastest flume ride in the USA. The ride stands at 120ft with riders reaching speeds of upto 55mph.

Attractions - 

Summit Plummet - The main attraction of Blizzard Beach is this 120ft high, 65MPH water ride that plummets you back to earth.There is a minimum height requirement of 48" to use this attraction. 

 

Teamboat Springs - Described by Disney as "family white-water raft ride". Each raft is capable of holding between 4 and 6 riders.

Did you know? Teamboat springs is the World's longest family raft ride measuring in at a total length of 1,400 feet.

Slush Gusher - Reach speeds of upto 35MPH on this body slide attraction. During parts of the ride yourbody can actually become airborne and leave the bed of the ride.

Downhill Double Dipper -  This attraction is one of very few 'side-by-side' water rides in the world.Each slide is timed so you can race your friends and family, but don't forget to check who got the quickest time when your at the bottom.

Snow Stormers - Three Slides form the Snow Stormers. Grab your mat and race your friends of family to the bottom! The attraction is designed to replicate a ski slope and forms a slalom style ride down the flumes.

Toboggan Racers - This attraction is a another that requires riders to use a mat. The 8 lane ride offers riders an array of dips as it fires it's way down Mount Gushmore at Disney's Blizzard Beach.

Runoff Rapids -  These are three tube style rides that offer three different descents down Mount Gushmore. Contains 600ft of winding, dropping, twisting and much more. Guest must ride a tube on this attraction.

Cross-Country Creek - This is a 3,000 foot, slow moving family water attraction which is also known as the 'lazy river'. The creek contains 7 entrances and exits so is ideal as a method of transport through the park or just for a chance to relax and catch some sun!

Ski Patrol - This is an area designed for pre-teenage children, the area contains;

  •  Leisure pool
  • Fahrenheit Drops - An attraction that drops guests under 5 feet tall into a pool of water
  • Freezin' Pipe Springs - Short body slide
  • Cool Runners - A tube slide

Tike's Peak - Gentle versions of the main Blizzard Beach attractions designed for the younger generation of guests. Also features a water play area. This attraction is only available to guest under 48" tall.

Chairlift
- Carries guests up Mount Gushmore, The chairlift is one-way but you can ride one of the attractions back down to earth.

Frostbite Freddie's - Bar that serves a nice selection of drinks

Lottawatta Lodge - Large selection of food, suitable for all

Polar Pub - Bar located on the beach

I.C Expeditions - Serves Ice cream & refreshments

The Cooling Hut - Serves light snacks & refreshments

The Warming Hut - Serves snacks, lunch and dinner.

Disney's Blizzard Beach has a selections of shopping outlets to choose from aswell, you can hire lockers and towels from Snowless Joe's.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

This is an older water park that was opened in 1989, It is a more relaxing park that offers many nice beach areas and a large wave pool. It is also home to the newest Disney water ride - Crush 'N' Gusher. This is a water coaster that defies gravity and sends you up aswell as down. Parking is available at this park, the park is located almost opposite pleasure island at Downtown Disney. Buses don't run directly from the main parks so you will have to transfer to a resort hotel then go onto Typhoon Lagoon. For more info on transportation click here

Did you know? in 2008 Disney's Typhoon Lagoon was visited by over 2 million guests, Making it the most visited water park in the world

 

Attractions -

Humunga Kowabunga - Plunge down five stories in this fast paced water flume. There is a minimum height requirement of 48".

Storm Slides - Choose from three slides (Jib Jammer, Stern Burner and Rudder Buster) and ride three stories back to earth.

Gang Plank Falls - Family raft ride where you can ride in groups of upto four.

Mayday Falls - Rough rapid ride on a tube.

Keelhaul Falls -  Same concept as Mayday Falls but a smoother ride

Crush N' gusher - Selection of three water coaster that defy gravity and fire you upwards using jets!There is a minimum height requirement of 48" to ride. Disney PHOTOPASS photographers are usually present at this attraction. For more info on PHOTOPASS click here - Other WDW Info

Sandy White Beach -  Adjacent to the Crush N' Gusher water coaster this beach area also has a 'wading' pool.

Shark Reef - This attractions allows you to snorkel through a reek containing, tropical fish, stingrays, bonnethead and leopard sharks. You can also view the Reef from an underwater viewing area. You can also take art in the S.A.S Adventure which gives you a 30 minute air snorkelling experience (extra cost applies).

Castaway Creek - Lazy river that circulates the Typhoon Lagoon park. Its ideal as a mode of transport around the park as it has a number of entrance and exits on route. 

Ketchakiddee Creek - A play area for young children to enjoy. There is a maximum height restriction of 48" to use this attraction.

Dining Outlets - 

Leaning Palms - Main outlet for food and beverage.

Typhoon Tilly's - Serves a range of snacks aswell as lunch and dinner.

Happy Landing's ice cream - serves ice cream and refreshment.

Lets Go Slurpin' - Bar area located on the beach.

Surf Doggies - Serves a range of snacks and refreshments.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon also offer's a range of shopping outlets. You can hire Towels and Lockers from High N' Dry Towels.
