Unofficial Disney World

Disney have 22 on-site hotels which are owned and managed by the park. All of Disney's resort hotels are themed and are classified in five different bands, these are;

• Deluxe
• Moderate
• Value
• Campground & Cabins
• Disney Vacation club

Each hotel within these categories have different price bands although you can get good deals in hotels within each of the hotel class bands. There are many different advantages of staying at a Disney resort hotel, a few of them are;

• If you are flying into Orlando international airport you are transported to your Disney resort hotel on the Disney magical express service. Your luggage is collected from the airport and delivered direct to your room door.
• Disney offer a complete transportation system throughout the park, all Disney buses have stops at every resort hotel. This makes the parks extremely accessible from all of the resort hotels. Buses run normally upto one to two hours after the park closing, its worth asking your bus driver on the day when the last bus is just to be safe! Please Note: The Swan and Dolphin hotels don't currently offer this service.
• Ideal if your taking the kid's! Many of the hotels offer character dining, this is where you can have either breakfast, lunch or dinner in the company of one of your favourite Disney characters. Please Note; Booking is advised as this service is very popular.

Did you know? If you wanted to stay in every room in all of the hotels and resorts that are currently open at the Walt Disneyworld Resort it would take more than 72 years!

Disney's Polynesian Resort

The Polynesian resort was opened with the park on October 1st 1971, it's themed on the south seas. It has had two refurbishments since. Its located on the seven seas lagoon just minutes from the Magic Kingdom park. Has a monorail station for easy transportation to the Magic kingdom aswell as the transportation & ticket centre with ongoing transport to Epcot via monorail & other parks via the bus/boat services.

• Has five different suites located within the resort
• Resort is an AAA four diamond hotel

The resort has a number of shops and recreational activities including a beautiful white sand beach facing the seven seas lagoon. The resort has two full service restaurants and one quick service restaurant.

Did you know? John Lennon signed the agreement to end the Beatles while staying at the polynesian resort in 1974. His was the last signature on the agreement thus ending the Beatles at the polynesian resort in Disneyworld, Orlando.

Disney Animal Kingdom lodge

Disney's Animal Knigdom lodge is one of the newest resort hotels having opened in 2001. Located next to the Animal Kingdom theme park its the ideal location for access to the park and Disney's Blizzard Beach waterpark. The resort is African themed and home to veriety of wild animals.

• The building is built in 33 acres acres of land

There are currently three dining outlets situated at the resort offering a range of full-service and counter service.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Themed as the Pacific North-West, Disney's Wilderness lodge is a hugely popular resort. located near to the Magic Kingdom, its built on nearly 54 acres of land. You can access the Magic Kingdom directly via boat from the Wilderness lodge.

Disney's Beach Club Resort

This resort was opened in 1990 and is located in the Epcot area. Its actual location is on crescent lake which is ideal for access to either Epcot or Disney's Hollywood studios parks, both of which are within walking distance of the resort.

Disney's Boardwalk Inn

One of the smallest resorts at Walt Disney World with 378 guest rooms. It's located in the Epcot area and is within walking distance of both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood studios although a free boat service is available from the resort to both parks.The resort is set in a 1920's waterfront village theme built on the edge of an outstanding waterfront.

Disney's Contemporary Resort

This resort opened with the Magic Kingdom on October 1st 1971, It was one of only two hotels that were available upon the park opening. This resort is located adjacent to the Magic Kingdom and is within walking distance of the entrance. It was designed and built with a modern theme in mind and that is still the case today, a very attractive and upmarket resort. The resort has it's own monorail station which is located in the main tower, the monorail runs right through the centre of the main tower and is a distinct feature of the resort. Aswell as the monorail there is also bus transportation to the other parks and boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom park.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

This in my opinion is the best resort at Walt Disney World. It is also considered by many guests as the flagship resort and the room costs usually relfect that! Its located in the Magic Kingdom area, situated just off the seven seas lagoon. The resort has it's own monorail station making easy access to the magic Kingdon & Epcot parks aswell as the transportation & ticket centre. The resort has a large spa area where guests can access a wide range of massages & treatments at an extra cost.

This resort is located in the Epcot area at Walt Disney World. The resort is within walking distance of Epcot and has free Disney transportation to all of the other Disney parks. There is also free boat transportation from the Yacht Club resort to both Epcot & Disney's Hollywood studios parks.

The resort is themed on tropical Caribbean islands and is an ideal location if you want to relax after a busy few days in the parks. Ideal location for access to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park & Downtown Disney.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort

This resort is located in the Downtown Disney area of the park. It's split up into two different themed resorts - French Quarter and Riverside Resort. The Riverside Resort is the larger of the two resorts with 2048 guest rooms. The resort is themed on New Orleans and the Old South.

Both resorts offer a large amount of dining facilities and recreational facilities. The resort is ideally located for access to both Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon water park. The hotel has free Disney transportation to all other areas of Walt Disney World.

Located near to Disney's Wide World of Sports complex this newly built resort (2003) offers a great family destination at an affordable price. The resort is themed on music from the 1950's right up to the 1990's.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

This resort is Disney's only campground within Walt Disney World. It opened just short of 8 weeks after the official opening of the Magic Kingdom in 1971. There is camp-sites and cabins available at the resort. The resort is located near to the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation & Ticket Centre.

Facts & Figures;

• The resort currently has 784 camp-sites and 409 cabins for guest use
• The resort once featured a steam powered railroad. It was a 2.5 mile railroad which was used to transport guest around the various camp-sites. The majority of the track has been pulled up but some can still be seen around the camp-sites. Some of the coaches are still in use as ticket booths, most notable at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park.
• The Disney River Country water park is located near to the resort. This was the first themed waterpark in the world but was closed in 2001
